Air Racer FAQ: free, ads, iPad and more
Is Air Racer free?
The first three courses are free to try: Harbour Sprint, Fjord Slalom and Waterfall Loop. You can fly them as often as you like. The other six courses are for members, and the Join button in the game shows how to become one.
Are there ads or in-game purchases?
No. Air Racer has no ads. Coins are only earned by flying and only buy planes and paint. There is no shop for real money inside the game.
Does Air Racer work on iPad, Android or a phone?
Yes. Air Racer runs in the web browser on phones and tablets, with touch controls on the screen. Hold your device sideways. If you hold it upright, the game pauses until you turn it.
Can I play Air Racer with a controller?
Yes. Use the left stick to fly, the triggers for engine power and the shoulder buttons for the rudder. A controller also works in every menu. See the controls page for every button.
Do I need to download or install anything?
No. Air Racer plays in your web browser on a computer, phone or tablet. If the game says it needs WebGL, try another browser or a newer one.
How do I save my progress?
The game saves by itself. Your coins, planes, medals and best flights stay in the browser on this device. If you are logged in on the portal and have chosen a player, your progress is saved there too. In a private browser window, progress is not kept.
What age is Air Racer for?
Air Racer is made for kids of about 8 to 12 and the grown-ups who play with them. Younger pilots can play too, with Helper on and Start guided practice. Races are short: most take less than a minute and a half.
Is Air Racer scary or violent?
No. There are no people, no weapons and no blood. If you fly into the ground, a structure or the water, you see sparks, fire and smoke, or a big splash. Then you press Try again.
Which languages can I play in?
Air Racer speaks English, Swedish, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. You can change the language under Settings.
How do I unlock new courses, planes and paints?
Finish a course to unlock the next one. Win medals to earn coins, then buy the Racer, the Aerobat or the Pro Racer in the Hangar. Gold on all three courses of a place unlocks a new paint. The courses page has the full list.
How do I fly the loop in Waterfall Loop?
Build speed first, fly into the first ring with your wings level, then pull back gently through every ring. Ease off as the plane comes out level. If the game says "High G!", ease the stick. More help is in the tips.
Can I race against my friends?
Yes, against their shadow. In Your race times, choose Save a challenge file and give it to a friend. Your friend opens it and races your flight as an orange plane, with the same course, plane and flying mode. Weekly race & friends lets you share checked times on the portal.
