Plane racing tips for your first clean lap
For a clean lap in Air Racer, start with assisted flight, look ahead to the next gate and make small steering changes. Learn the course before chasing the fastest time. A smooth line through the gates is a better first goal than a risky shortcut.
Practise before racing
Start in assisted mode. Look through the next gate and make small adjustments. Watch your best replay to see where a wider turn could save time. The controls guide explains throttle, steering and camera choices.
Make touch steering feel comfortable
On a phone, rest your thumb on the stick, then slide a little to steer. Your first touch stays neutral. With the helper on, lift your thumb to straighten your wings. You can still drag farther for a tight turn.
Try Start guided practice before your first race. You will make a small turn, let the wings level, add power and fly through a gate. Take your time. Practice does not change your coins or race records. Then choose Race Harbour Sprint.
In Settings, choose Gentle, Normal or Sport touch sensitivity. Gentle gives small movements more room. Every setting keeps full steering when you drag farther. Reset touch controls brings back Gentle.
Work through the first courses
Your next goal is on the home menu. Finish Harbour Sprint to open Fjord Slalom, then finish that to open Waterfall Loop. Medals earn coins for more planes. Keep improving your times after all three courses are done.
Water crashes make a splash with spray and ripples. Land crashes make a fiery burst and smoke. You get a moment to see the impact before trying again. Sound follows your sound and volume settings.
Line up before the gate
The gold marker shows the next gate. The distance beneath its hint helps you line up early. Clean passes get a green message. Penalties tell you what to change.
Try turning a little earlier on your next attempt. Reduce the steering as the plane lines up with the opening. Holding a hard turn too long can take you past the line you wanted. Keep looking toward the next gate rather than only at the plane.
Fly the loop smoothly
Build speed before the loop. Enter the first ring level, then pull back gently through every ring. Ease off as the plane levels out. If speed is low, add power and lower the nose. If G is high, ease the stick.
Fix one thing on each retry
| What went wrong | Your next practice goal |
|---|---|
| You passed beside the gate | Start lining up earlier and use smaller corrections. |
| The plane kept turning past your target | Ease the steering as the wings reach the angle you want. |
| You lost speed in the loop | Build speed before entering and avoid pulling too sharply. |
| Touch steering felt too sensitive | Try Gentle and leave room for your thumb to move. |
| Your lap was clean but slow | Watch your replay and pick one turn to improve. |
Your best flights stay on this device. Replays help you compare your own attempts without having to remember every turn. Return to the Air Racer guide for courses, progression and ways to race a shared ghost.
