Caribbean Corsairs: the three sea battles
Caribbean Corsairs has three sea battles. They open one after the other: win a battle to open the next one. In every battle you start with a full hull of 150 and two repairs, and you win by sinking every rival ship. The RIVALS LEFT counter at the top of the screen shows how many are still afloat.
Battle 1: The Smuggler’s Cove
| Rival ships | Hull of each rival | Gold for a win |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | 60 | 120 |
This is the first battle, and it is free to try. The two rival ships are the slowest in the game. One full broadside, when all three cannonballs hit, is enough to sink one. The first time you play, the sailing lessons guide you through this battle step by step.
How to win: raise your sails, turn until one rival is in a gold lane beside you, and fire. Then sail away while your cannons reload, and do it again.
Battle 2: The Emerald Passage
| Rival ships | Hull of each rival | Gold for a win |
|---|---|---|
| 3 | 80 | 220 |
This battle is for members. Three rivals sail a little faster and are tougher. One broadside is not enough any more, so each ship needs two good ones.
How to win: keep firing at the same rival until it sinks, using your left and right cannons in turn. Keep an eye on the SEA CHART, so a second rival does not sneak up behind you.
Battle 3: The Crimson Fleet
| Rival ships | Hull of each rival | Gold for a win |
|---|---|---|
| 4 | 90 | 350 |
The last battle is also for members. Four rivals are the fastest and toughest ships in the game, and each needs two good broadsides. Win this battle and you are Captain of the Caribbean!
How to win: stay calm and fight one ship at a time. Fire, sail away until your cannons say READY, then turn back. Keep your repairs for when your hull is low. The tips page has more ideas for this battle.
How the rival ships fight
The rivals take turns. Only the two rivals closest to you come in to fight, and the others wait further away. Rival cannons reload more slowly than yours: 4 seconds, against 2.8 seconds for your ship. Their cannonballs also do less damage than yours. So if you keep moving and fire at the right moment, you can beat a whole fleet.
The rivals also steer away from islands, but they will still bump into you if you sail too close. A bump hurts both ships.
Gold and your best haul
When you win, you get the battle's gold: 120, 220 or 350. Gold is a score, not money, and you cannot buy anything with it. Your Best haul for each battle shows under Choose your battle and is saved in this browser.
The result screen also shows Hits, the share of your cannonballs that hit a ship, and Battle time. Play a battle again to beat your own aim or your time.
Members' battles
Battles 2 and 3 are marked Members' battle in the list. If you are not a member yet, the game shows what is waiting and a Join button. Your gold stays saved when you join.
