Relay Rivals FAQ: questions and answers
Is Relay Rivals free?
Part of it is. Training, the Learn by playing guide and the first three campaign battles are free to try. Membership opens all twelve battles, all twelve robot cards and the Daily relay.
Are there ads or things to buy in the game?
No. There are no ads and nothing to buy inside the game. Every player gets the same robots with the same power, and there are no upgrades for sale.
Does it work on iPad, Android tablets and phones?
Yes. Relay Rivals runs in the web browser on phones and tablets, and you play with touch. Hold the device sideways. If you turn it upright, the game pauses and asks you to turn it back.
Do I need to download or install anything?
No. The game runs in your web browser on a computer, phone or tablet. There is nothing to install.
Can I play with a controller?
Yes. Use LB and RB to pick a card, the D-pad or stick to pick a pad, and A to send your robots. B or Start pauses. The controller must work with your browser's standard gamepad setup. See Controls.
How do I save my progress?
The game saves on its own. Your stars, crew, ribbons, paint and settings are kept in this browser on this device. They do not move to another device. If your browser cannot save (for example in a private window), you can still play, and the game tells you that progress will not be kept.
What age is Relay Rivals for?
It is made for players about 8 to 12, and grown-ups can enjoy it too. The words are short and simple, and the Learn by playing guide shows every step.
Is it scary or violent?
Not really. Small robots made of simple shapes zap each other. A beaten robot disappears in a burst of sparks. No people get hurt, there is no blood, and there are no scary themes, no chat and no voices.
Can I play against friends online?
Not yet. All battles are solo, against computer rivals. Online battles against other players are planned for later.
How long does it take to finish?
A battle lasts at most three minutes. The campaign has twelve battles. Earning all 36 stars and all 24 bonus ribbons takes much longer, and the Daily relay brings a new challenge every day.
How do I beat battle 5, Sky patrol?
The rival brings flying Kite Drones. Put a Rivet Ranger or an Anchor Pad in your crew: both can hit flying robots. Send a Shield Cart in front of the Ranger. More help on the Campaign and battles page.
Which languages can I play in?
Nine: English, Swedish, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. Change it under Language in the settings.
