Tips for new drivers
Want to earn more? Collect every bonus on every job. Drive there quickly. Make the spot safe. Park straight. Stay away from the traffic. These tips show easy habits for that. A few of them also save your truck.
Earn every bonus
- Switch on the hazard lights on the way. They work while you are still driving (B or Y). Flick them on as you get close. For the safety bonus you need the lights and the warning triangle.
- Don't be slow, but don't panic. Finish within the job's target time and you get the whole time bonus. It only shrinks to nothing at twice that time. A careful job beats a crash.
- Reverse in straight. A straight setup with no mistakes earns the clean recovery bonus. It is worth 10% of the base pay. Drive past the car. Reverse up to it, in line. Wait until the Parking gauge says Good. Then confirm.
- Steer clear of other cars. Every bump into traffic or the wreck takes a bit off the safety bonus. A real crash costs you money too.
Winching without trouble
- Watch the Cable pull gauge. When it turns red, ease off a little. If you keep pulling, the cable jerks. In the end it lets go, and you have to hook on again.
- On a gamepad, RT sets the winch speed by how hard you squeeze. That makes it easy to keep the tension even.
- Press the hook button when the swinging hook is inside the zone. Don't press the moment it appears.
- Strapping down needs fast taps. If you slow down, the strap starts to slip.
- At the hole in the ice, stand at least 9 metres back. Otherwise the ice cracks under the truck.
Roadside jobs
- On a tyre change, tighten the nuts in a star pattern. Pick the wrong nut and the wheel goes on crooked.
- On a jump-start, clip the cables on in the right order. Unclip them in reverse order. The wrong order gives sparks and damage.
- When you open a locked car, a missed try scratches the paint. The customer will notice.
- Beside the E4, park so your truck shields you from passing traffic.
Driving in winter
- Snowfall and blizzards turn the road to slush and snow. It takes longer to stop. Brake earlier than you think and keep more distance.
- A car you hit slides much further on packed snow and ice than on asphalt. So a small mistake gets bigger.
- Use the camera (C or RB) to switch between behind, far behind and the cab view.
- Zoom the minimap in and out with M (D-pad up). Do it when you want a different look at the route.
- Slid into the ditch? Press R (Back) to get back on the road.
Look after your truck
- Crashes and hard knocks lower your truck's condition. Below 60% it pulls to one side and loses top speed. So get it fixed.
- The workshop repairs the truck when it stands still in the yard. It costs 150 kr per percent. If you don't have enough money for it all, the repair is only partial.
- After a delivery, take the quick dash when Base offers it. Then you skip the long drive to the accident site.
Plan your next truck
The shift summary shows the next shift's weather. That is a good moment to visit the shop. Does Base keep sending jobs to others because your truck is too light? Then save up for a bigger one. Read Tow trucks and the shop.
