Tow trucks and the shop
You start with the light tow truck. You can buy six more in the shop. Each truck has its own load capacity and its own equipment. They decide which jobs Base offers you. In this guide, t means tonnes. That is how we measure very heavy things.

Light tow truck
Quick and nimble, made for passenger cars. It has everything a car job needs. So it can do every car recovery and all the roadside jobs from day one.
4x4 service pickup
A quick four-wheel-drive pickup. It has a jump pack, a jack, a fuel can and a front winch. A jump pack is a battery that starts cars. It changes tyres, jump-starts cars, opens locked doors, brings fuel and winches cars out of snowbanks. But it can't tow anything.
Wheel-lift pickup
Cheap and quick. It tows passenger cars to the workshop on its wheel lift. It has no flatbed.
Medium tow truck
The workhorse of the E4. It works hard all day. It can take vans and heavier loads.
Tri-axle flatbed truck
A long bed and ten tonnes of capacity. Tri-axle means three axles. It is the first truck that can take the 9-tonne lorry by the roadside on the E4.
Heavy tow truck with boom
Slow but unstoppable. Outriggers, a boom and two winches pull lorries and buses out of the ditch. The outriggers are legs that keep it steady. The boom is a crane arm.
Rotator tow truck
A crane that turns around, on four axles. It sets overturned timber trucks upright. It has no flatbed, so it can't do car jobs that need a bed.
How equipment decides your jobs
Base only offers jobs that the truck you are using can do. A job needs the right equipment. Your truck may carry, lift or winch a vehicle. Then the wreck must not weigh more than your truck's max load. If Base gives a job to someone else, the radio tells you why. Either it is too heavy, or your truck is missing equipment. You can see every job and what it needs in Jobs and radio calls.
Buying and switching trucks
Press Esc (Start on the gamepad) and choose Workshop & shop. You can also get there from the shift summary. Each truck has a card. It shows the price, the max load and the equipment. It also shows ratings for engine power, load capacity, top speed and steering.
- Buy a truck when you have enough money for the price. New trucks wait for you in the depot.
- Use this one switches to a truck you already own. Only the truck that is in use does jobs.
Every truck keeps its own condition. A dented truck stays dented when you switch to another one. Read about repairs in The workshop, pay and repairs.
Which truck to buy first
There is no one right answer. The light tow truck already has a tool kit. So the service pickup doesn't unlock new jobs. It is just a quick, cheap helper for roadside work. The medium and tri-axle trucks raise your load limit. The heavy and rotator trucks unlock the jobs that pay the most: the lorry in the ditch, the bus in the ditch and the overturned timber truck.
