Squad Rush tips: gates, doors and big bots
These tips help you in every stage of Squad Rush, from the first gate to the last big bot. Try one tip at a time and see what works for you.
Tips for number gates
- Line up early. The longer you shoot a gate, the bigger its number gets.
- Red gates take friends away, but shooting them makes their number go up too. If you must cross one, shoot it first.
- A ×2 or ×3 gate is best when your squad is already big. When your squad is small, a big plus number can be better.
- Your squad can grow to 60. After that, extra friends do not count.
How to time the big door
When robots run at you, the SLAM DOOR button appears. Wait until it turns yellow, then close the door. Close it just in time for double coins. The door stays shut for about two seconds and then opens again. You can use it once, so after that keep firing and dodge.
Rescue tips
Shoot a gold cage to free four new friends. At a rescue door, gold recruits come first and red bots come after. Let all your friends cross, then close the door on the bots.
Which blaster is best?
- Pulse: the blaster you start with.
- Spread: shots fan out. Unlocks when you finish stage 3.
- Rapid: fires very fast. Unlocks when you finish stage 6.
- Rockets: slow, but hit a whole group of robots.
- Flame: very strong, but only reaches a short way.
- Laser: fast shots that go through shields and whole rows of robots.
Shield robots are tough from the front. Hit them from the side, or switch to the laser. When you reach a big bot with the flame, the game switches you to a blaster that reaches further.
Wide line or narrow column?
The Wide line spreads your shots across the road. The Narrow column is slim, so it is easier to slip past crates and out of a red lane. Switch to the column before a hard part, then back to the wide line.
Scouts, convoys and last stands
- Scouts: cross a purple pad and a third of your squad goes scouting for eight seconds. They come back with four new friends and 20 coins. Fewer come back if you get hit while they are away.
- Convoy: stay behind the truck. It blocks three marked attacks for you.
- Last stand: after a wave, choose Escape or Another wave. More waves give more coins: 20, then 40, then 60. If you do not choose within four seconds, you escape safely.
How to beat each big bot
There are three kinds of big bot. Look up your stage to see which one you will meet.
| Stages | What the big bot does | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| 1, 2, 5, 9 | Stays in the middle and marks the lane where you are | Step to the side, then keep firing |
| 3, 4, 7, 10 | Walks from side to side and marks two lanes | Find the safe space between the lanes |
| 6, 8, 11 | Marks wider lanes, and more often | Move early and use the narrow column |
Tips for stage 12
Heart of Frostline has three parts. First destroy all three shield relays. Then let the recruits cross and stop the crowd. Last, dodge the charge lanes and finish the moving core. If you lose, Retry this phase starts you again at the part you reached, with the same blasters.
How to get all 36 stars
Each stage has three stars: finish it, dodge every hit, and grow your squad to 25. Go for one star at a time. Upgrades from the Workshop make the hard ones easier.
