Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

ContentaSoft ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data when you use AI Video Enhancer Studio ("the Software") and visit our website at www.contenta-software.com ("the Website"). We comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Swedish data protection laws.

1. Information We Collect

Website Visits and Advertising: When you open a page, our server receives your IP address, your browser's user agent, the page address and the page you came from. Google Analytics and Google Ads record page views and actions such as download and buy clicks; they set cookies only when your cookie choice allows it (section 3). The Microsoft Advertising (Bing) tag is used only on the welcome page shown after installation and the thank-you page shown after a purchase, and is loaded only when your cookie choice allows it. If you arrive from an ad or a campaign, the campaign parameters (utm_*, source) are kept in cookies; the ad click ID (gclid) is kept in a cookie only when your cookie choice allows it.

Downloads, Installations and Purchases: When you download the installer, our server reports the download click and the download to Google Analytics; on a phone, it reports that the download page was opened and that a download link was emailed. We also store your IP address, so that the app's first start can be matched to the download; the first start is then reported to Google Analytics. When your cookie choice allows it (section 3), we store the Google ad click ID and your Google Analytics ID with the IP address, the reports carry these IDs, and a first start that follows a Google ad click is also reported to Google Ads, so we can measure which ads lead to installations. Otherwise the reports are anonymous: they carry no Google Analytics ID and no ad click ID, cannot be linked to you or to an ad click, and the installation is not reported to Google Ads. After a purchase, our server reports the amount, the currency and the order number to Google Analytics. The report sent from the purchase confirmation page carries your Google Analytics ID and the ad click ID only when your cookie choice allows it.

Support and Feedback: When you submit a support request or feedback through the Software or our website, we collect your email address (if provided) and message content. This data is used solely to respond to your inquiry.

Usage Statistics: The desktop app, the command line (CLI) and the MCP server send usage statistics to our server (contenta-jansoft.com). Each report carries a machine ID: a SHA-256 hash of your computer name, Windows version and Windows user name. The hash cannot be turned back into those values, but it stays the same on your computer, so reports from one computer can be linked together. Each report also contains the product, the app version, the Windows version and whether it comes from the desktop app, the CLI or the MCP server. Our server stores your IP address with the installation and start reports. We receive:

  • once, at the first start after installation: the app language;
  • at each start of the desktop app: whether the app is registered, and your processor, graphics card, memory size and number of processor cores;
  • wizard steps: which step you opened;
  • for each enhancement run: the job type, the output format, the features used, the number of files, how many succeeded, the duration, whether the app is registered and trial counts;
  • conversion errors: the error message, the file type and how often it occurred;
  • clicks on Buy, Register, the trial extension offer and update notices, the opening of the summary, compare and first-run screens, clip exports, and repairs of missing components;
  • from the CLI and the MCP server (serve): the same per-run statistics, and the name, version and protocol version of each MCP client that connects.

Usage statistics never contain your videos. You can turn usage statistics and crash reports off in Settings, Privacy: Send usage statistics and crash reports (on by default). This description applies from version 2026.7.17; in earlier versions the setting stopped less. When the setting is off, the desktop app, the command line (CLI) and the MCP server send no usage statistics and no crash reports: no start report with hardware details, no wizard steps, no trial or click events, no per-job statistics, no conversion errors, no reports about MCP clients and no reports about repairs of missing components. Reports still waiting on your computer are deleted, not sent. One report is sent before you can reach Settings: the first time the app starts, it sends the installation report once (machine ID, product, app version, Windows version and app language). It is never repeated. The setting does not change license checks, update checks and downloads, the trial extension request, feedback you send, or the Buy link.

Crash Reports: If the desktop app hits an unexpected error, it saves a report on your computer and sends it to contenta-jansoft.com at the next start. A report contains the error type, the error message, the technical stack trace, the machine ID, the app version, the Windows version, how long the app had been running and the display rendering tier. File and folder paths (drive and network paths) in a report are replaced by a placeholder before it is saved and again before it is sent; a file name that appears without its folder can remain. The CLI and the MCP server do not send crash reports. A crash that happens while the setting above is off is not saved for upload and is never sent, even if you turn the setting on later.

License Validation: When you register, the Software sends your email address, your license key and the product name to our license server (contenta-jansoft.com). A registered copy repeats this check when it starts. For each check our server logs the time, your IP address and its host name, the key and the email address. Your key and email address are also saved on your computer, in %APPDATA%\AIVideoEnhancerStudio\ and in the Windows registry. Trial counters stay on your computer. No video content is transmitted.

Trial Extension: If you ask for extra free files by joining the newsletter inside the Software, it sends your email address, the machine ID and the app version to contenta-jansoft.com, and we send you a confirmation email (double opt-in).

Update Check and Downloads: The desktop app downloads version.json from contenta-software.com to show update notices, and its tool pack from www.contenta-software.com when it repairs missing components. These requests carry no machine ID, license key or other personal data, but like any request they show your IP address to our server. The update notice has an Update now button: it downloads our signed installer from www.contenta-software.com, checks its signature and starts it. That download carries no machine ID or license key either. The installer reports its steps and errors (product, app version and Windows version) to contenta-jansoft.com without any identifier. If you turned the setting above off, the installer sends none of these reports when you install an update or reinstall; a first installation sends them.

Data That Stays on Your Computer: Your videos, enhanced files and settings stay on your computer. The Software does not upload them anywhere. The Software writes log files to %APPDATA%\AIVideoEnhancerStudio\logs\ and keeps the last 7 daily files. Logs can contain file names and are not sent to us.

Payment Information: Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not store credit card numbers or bank details on our servers. Stripe's privacy policy governs the handling of your payment data. We receive only a transaction confirmation, your email address, and the license tier purchased. If you click Buy inside the Software, the link includes the machine ID and your trial status, so the purchase can be linked to that installation.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To deliver and activate your software license
  • To respond to support requests and inquiries
  • To send transactional emails (license key delivery, purchase confirmation)
  • To improve our website and software through aggregated analytics and usage statistics
  • To identify and fix software crashes and bugs
  • To prevent fraud and unauthorized license usage

We do not sell or rent your personal data. To measure our own advertising, we share with Google Ads the ad click ID and the downloads, installations and purchases that follow an ad click, and with Microsoft Advertising the visits to the pages named in section 1, only when your cookie choice allows it (section 3). We do not send promotional emails unless you explicitly opt in.

3. Cookies

Our website uses the following cookies:

  • Needed for the site to work: language (your language, 30 days), cookie_consent (your cookie choice, 365 days) and geo_eu (whether the banner applies to you, 1 day). They do not require consent.
  • Set by our site to record where you came from: source, ave_utm_* and ave_seg (30 days), set for every visitor who arrives with campaign parameters. Only when your cookie choice allows it: ave_gclid (Google ad click ID, 90 days). It is deleted when you choose "Reject all".
  • Google Analytics and Google Ads cookies, such as _ga, _ga_* and _gcl_*. For visitors from the EU/EEA, the UK and Switzerland they are set only after you accept them in the banner. For other visitors they are on by default, unless they choose "Reject all".
  • Microsoft Advertising cookies, such as _uetsid and _uetvid, set by the Microsoft Advertising tag on the welcome page shown after installation and the thank-you page shown after a purchase. The tag is loaded only when your cookie choice allows it.

Your cookie choice: visitors from the EU/EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked in the banner, and the cookies and tags that need consent stay off until they accept. Other visitors do not see the banner, and these cookies and tags are on by default. Any visitor can open the banner again with the "Cookie preferences" link in the page footer and accept or choose "Reject all". The choice is kept for 365 days in the cookie_consent cookie. Any visitor can also block or delete cookies in the browser.

4. Third-Party Services

  • Google Analytics and Google Ads: Website analytics and measurement of our own ads, and the download, installation and purchase events our server reports. These events carry your Google Analytics ID and the ad click ID only when your cookie choice allows it. Data may be transferred to the US under Google's Standard Contractual Clauses. Google Privacy Policy.
  • Microsoft Advertising: The Microsoft Advertising tag on the welcome page shown after installation and the thank-you page shown after a purchase, which measures visits from Bing ads. It is loaded only when your cookie choice allows it. Microsoft Privacy Statement.
  • Stripe: Payment processing. Stripe is PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant. Stripe Privacy Policy.
  • DreamHost: Hosts our websites, databases and outgoing email, including the server that receives usage statistics, crash reports and license checks.

5. Data Retention

  • Support requests: Retained for up to 2 years after the last communication, then deleted.
  • License records: Retained for the lifetime of your license for activation and support purposes.
  • Usage statistics, crash reports and license check logs (including IP addresses): No fixed period. We keep them for statistics and security, and delete the records linked to your machine ID, IP address or email address on request.
  • Analytics data: Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted.
  • Payment records: Retained as required by Swedish tax law (7 years for financial records).
  • Data on your computer: Only the last 7 daily log files are kept; everything else stays until you delete it, in %APPDATA%\AIVideoEnhancerStudio\.

6. Your Rights (GDPR)

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal retention requirements.
  • Right to Data Portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Right to Object: Object to processing of your data for specific purposes.
  • Right to Withdraw Consent: Change your cookie choice at any time with the "Cookie preferences" link in the page footer. Choosing "Reject all" turns off the Google Analytics, Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising cookies, removes the ad click ID cookies and makes the reports our server sends to Google anonymous.

To exercise any of these rights, contact our Data Protection Officer at support@contenta-software.com. We will respond within 30 days as required by GDPR.

You can also control data yourself:

  • Usage statistics and crash reports: Turn off Settings, Privacy: Send usage statistics and crash reports. Section 1 says what it stops. You can also object by email, and we delete the records linked to your machine ID.
  • Machine ID: It is stored in %APPDATA%\AIVideoEnhancerStudio\machine_id.dat. Send it to us and we delete the usage statistics and crash reports linked to it.
  • Local data: Delete the folder %APPDATA%\AIVideoEnhancerStudio\ to remove the app's settings, logs and machine ID from your computer.

7. Children's Privacy

Our Software and Website are not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that a child under 16 has provided personal data, we will take steps to delete such data promptly.

8. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Our website uses HTTPS encryption. Payment data is handled exclusively by Stripe's PCI-compliant infrastructure and never touches our servers.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. If we make material changes, we will notify registered license holders by email. Continued use of the Software or Website after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
