Jobs and radio calls
Every job in Nordic Recovery starts with a radio call from Base. Base is the team that sends you out. You drive to the accident site and make it safe. Then you deal with the vehicle. Sometimes you deliver it to the workshop. Sometimes the customer drives on. There are 15 different jobs. Which ones you get depends on your truck, the weather and the time of day.
How a job works
- The call. A few seconds after you set off, Base calls. It tells you the job and the payment. Take the job or skip it. If you skip it, another call comes a little later.
- The drive. The minimap and the job line at the top show the way. They also show how far it is to the accident site.
- Make the spot safe. Switch on the hazard lights. Put out the warning triangle. Talk to the driver.
- The recovery. Park the truck in the right spot. Then work through the stages in the work view. Read Recovery step by step to see how.
- The finish. A towing job ends when you roll slowly into the marker at the workshop. A roadside job ends right where you are, and the customer drives on.
After a delivery, the next job is often far away. Base may then offer a quick dash from the workshop. It jumps you to the road just before the accident site. It costs 40 seconds on the job clock and the game clock.
Every job in the game
Towing jobs (to the workshop)
| Job | What you need |
|---|---|
| Bump at the rest area, E4 | Flatbed and winch |
| Electric car out of juice | Flatbed and winch |
| Car in the ditch after meeting a moose | Flatbed, winch and pulley |
| Tow from the village | Wheel lift |
| Car on its roof after a moose | Flatbed and winch. Turn the car over first |
| Car through the ice | Flatbed and winch. Pull from firm ground |
| Lorry by the roadside, E4 | Wheel lift and a truck that can carry 9 t |
| Lorry in the ditch on the E4 | Boom, wheel lift and winch (14 t) |
| Bus in the ditch | Boom, wheel lift and winch (13 t) |
| Overturned timber truck | Rotator and wheel lift (22 t) |
Roadside jobs (the customer drives on)
| Job | What you do |
|---|---|
| Flat tyre on the E4 | Loosen the wheel nuts, jack the car up and swap on the spare wheel. Tighten the nuts in a star pattern. Then give each nut a final tighten |
| Jump-start in the cold | Clip the jump cables on in the right order. Rev the truck to charge the battery, then start the car. Unclip the cables in reverse order |
| Keys locked in the car | Pump an air wedge into the door gap. Then guide the tool to the lock button |
| Out of fuel on the country road | Fetch the can and pour in the diesel. Pump up the fuel and start |
| Stuck in the snowbank | Your truck stays put, like an anchor. Winch the car back onto the road |
Tyre changes, jump-starts, locked doors and fuel runs need the tool kit. To pull a car out of a snowbank, your truck needs a winch.
Which jobs you are offered
Base only offers jobs that the truck you are using can do. It needs the right equipment and enough load capacity. Sometimes the radio says a job went to someone else. Your truck was too light, or it did not have the right gear. That's a hint: a different truck would unlock that job. Read Tow trucks and the shop.
Jobs also change with the shift. Jump-starts come more often on clear, cold mornings. Snowbanks come more often in snowfall and blizzards. The school bus ends up in the ditch more often on wet mornings. A car only goes through the ice when it's cold, never when the weather is wet. A new career always starts with the bump at the rest area on the E4.
What a job pays
Each call shows the payment up front. That is the base pay. Your final pay is the base pay plus bonuses. You can win a time bonus and a safety bonus. A tidy recovery also earns a clean recovery bonus. Bad weather and heavy vehicles pay more. You can read the details in The workshop, pay and repairs.
