The Post-Production Storage Problem

Professional cinema cameras prioritize image quality over file size. The result: drives fill up fast, and editors spend more on storage than on gear.

After editing and delivery, raw footage sits on drives consuming terabytes. Re-encoding to H.265 or AV1 recovers 50-70% of that space while keeping deliverable quality.

How VideoRecompress Handles Production Footage

VideoRecompress Studio processes your entire project folder in one batch:

Typical Savings by Camera

Real-world compression results from production footage re-encoded to H.265 CRF 20:

Camera / Codec Original (1 hour) Compressed Savings
RED V-RAPTOR (8K RAW) 300 GB/hr 90 GB 70%
Blackmagic 6K Pro (BRAW) 150 GB/hr 52 GB 65%
Sony FX6 (4K XAVC-I) 90 GB/hr 32 GB 64%
Canon C70 (4K XF-AVC) 75 GB/hr 27 GB 64%

Results using H.265, CRF 20 (YouTube Raw preset). Actual savings depend on content complexity and resolution.
